Day 1: Delhi - Samode
Drive from Delhi to Samode. Stay in the hotel. The village settlement is
picturesque.
Day 2: Samode - Nawalgarh
Drive to Nawalgarh in the heart of Shekhawati region. Stay in the hotel.
In the afternoon explore the surrounding towns and villages with their
painted havelis and temples.
Day 3: Nawalgarh - Khimsar (about 275 kms.)
Drive to Khimsar. The village around it is settled at the base of the sand
dunes where the blackbucks can be seen. Stay in the hotel.
Day 4: Khimsar - Osian - Jaisalmer (about 319 kms.)
Drive to Jaisalmer via Osian. Stay in the hotel.
Day 5: Jaisalmer - Pokaran (about 110 kms.)
Sightseeing in Jaisalmer. In the afternoon, drive to Pokaran. Pottery and
decorations for camels are made here. Stay in the hotel.
Day 6: Pokaran - Jodhpur (about 186 kms.)
Drive to Jodhpur. Sightseeing in Jodhpur. Stay in the hotel.
Day 7: Jodhpur - Rohet (about 50 kms,)
Visit Mandore and then drive to Rohet. Stay in the hotel. In the afternoon
have a jeep safari to the surrounded Rabari and Bishnoi village.
Day 8: Rohet - Daspan (about 190 kms.)
Drive to Daspan village where the fertile fields grow bountiful crops and
the village is known for its embroidered shoes. There are also some
families that make the bows and arrows in the Bhil style. Stay in the
hotel.
Day 9: Daspan - Bera
Drive to Leopard's Lair at Bera. There is a a large settlement of Rabaris
in the vicinity. These migrants move around, but this permanent settlement
has well kept, clean rooms. Stay in the hotel.
Day 10: Bera - Ranakpur
Drive to Ranakpur. Stay in the hotel.
Day 11: Ranakpur - Deogarh (about 120 kms.)
Drive to Deogarh. Spend evening at the lakeside farmhouse of the local
chieftain. Stay in the hotel.
Day 12: Deogarh - Udaipur (about 140 kms.)
Drive to Udaipur. Stay in the hotel.
Day 13: Udaipur - Dungarpur (about 120 kms.)
Drive to Dungarpur with its Bhil villages all around. Stay in the hotel.
Day 14: Dungarpur - Bijapur (about 50 kms.)
Drive via Chittorgarh to Bijapur, the base for the Mina tribes. The
village is located beside a lake. Stay in the hotel.
Day 15: Bijapur - Kota (about 170 kms.)
Drive to Kota. On the route visit the Buddhist caves in Kolvi. Stay in the hotel.
Day 16: Kota (Excursion to Kolvi Buddhist caves)
Today you have an excursion to the Buddhist caves in Kolvi. The Kolvi
village is situated about 90 kms. from Jhalawar. The Buddhist caves have a
collection of over 50 Buddhist, man made caves carved on a desolate
hillside. A colossal figure of Buddha and the carved stupas are the most
impressive structures in the Buddhist caves. Certain unique trees were
found near the monasteries and caves in the Buddhist times. These
extraordinary Buddhist caves are believed to belong to the 5th century. It
will be a short climb to the top where the Buddhist caves are situated.
Day 17: Kota - Raj Mahal (about 105 kms.)
Drive to Bundi. Visit Bundi fort and Raniji Ki Baori step well. Later drive
to Raj Mahal. Raj Mahal is a 300 year old palace with the village named
after it. The palace overlooks the river below. Stay in the hotel.
Day 18: Raj Mahal - Pachewar (about 93 kms.)
Drive to Pachewar village. Flourishing agricultural practices, toy makers
and a blue pottery kiln can be seen in this village. Stay in the hotel.
Day 19: Pachewar - Jaipur (about 95 kms.)
Drive to Jaipur. Sightseeing in Jaipur. Stay in the hotel.
Day 20: Jaipur - Bhandarej (about 62 kms.)
Drive to Bhandarej. The Bhandarej village has a lovely setting beside a
lake and the Mina settlements around it. Stay in the hotel.
Day 21: Bhandarej - Karauli (about 120 kms.)
Drive to Karauli, a small town that was a former princely state. Karauli
was known for its stone and Kaila Devi temple. Off the tourist track,
Karauli and its people are fascinating. Stay in the hotel.
Day 22; Karauli - Bharatpur (about 110 kms.)
Drive to Bharatpur. Visit Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary and old fort with its
incredible mud bastions. Stay in the hotel.
Day 23: Bharatpur - Delhi (about 184 kms.)
